Who we are
My Easy Tech Guide is a technology help website for adults over 50. Our website address is: https://myeasytechguide.com. In this policy, “we” means the team behind My Easy Tech Guide.
What personal data we collect and why
Comments
When you leave a comment on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also your IP address and browser user agent string to help with spam detection. An anonymised string created from your email address (called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. After your comment is approved, your profile picture (if any) is visible to the public next to your comment.
Contact forms
When you contact us through our contact form, we collect your name, email address and message so we can reply to you. We only use this information to answer your enquiry – never for marketing – and we do not sell it to anyone.
Cookies
If you leave a comment, you may opt in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies so you do not have to fill in your details again. These cookies last for one year.
We and our partners may also use cookies for analytics (to understand which guides are helpful) and for advertising (for example, Google AdSense may use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites). You can control or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time.
Affiliate links
Some pages contain affiliate links to retailers such as Amazon. If you click one, that retailer may place a cookie on your device so it can tell them the visit came from our site. This is explained further in our Affiliate Disclosure.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (for example videos and images). Embedded content from other websites behaves in exactly the same way as if you visited that other website, and those websites may collect data about you and use their own cookies.
Who we share your data with
We do not sell your personal data. Your data may be processed by the services that keep this website running, such as our hosting provider, spam-detection services and analytics providers, only for the purpose of operating and improving the site.
How long we retain your data
Comments and their metadata are retained indefinitely so we can recognise and approve follow-up comments automatically. Contact form messages are kept only as long as needed to deal with your enquiry.
Your rights over your data
If you have left comments or contacted us, you can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, or ask us to erase it. This does not include data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal or security purposes. To make a request, please use our Contact page.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated.
